International. Clariant has completed its transition to a portfolio of additives completely free of perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
As the world faces stricter regulations on PFAS substances, Clariant's proactive measures demonstrate both foresight and a deep commitment to fostering safer and more responsible solutions for industries globally.
Clariant's switch to PFAS-free additives reflects the company's deep understanding of its customers' needs and its ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship. By eliminating PFAS from its entire additive portfolio, Clariant offers sustainable alternatives without compromising performance. This step ensures that Clariant's customers can meet evolving regulatory requirements and align with global trends toward greener manufacturing practices.
Well ahead of looming regulatory deadlines, Clariant's transition to PFAS-free additives, completed in December 2023, highlights the company's readiness to address the growing global demand for sustainable solutions. By staying ahead of schedule, Clariant not only protects the environment, but also ensures that its customers can quickly adapt to future regulations without disruption.
Miao Zhigang, Global Vice President of the Polymer Solutions segment, adds, "We believe in delivering tomorrow's solutions today. By eliminating PFAS, we are not only addressing current regulations, but anticipating the future needs of the industry, ensuring that our customers remain competitive and responsible."
Clariant's product portfolio features revolutionary PFAS-free solutions such as Ceridust 8170 M, a Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)-free texturizing agent for powder coatings that offers superior performance with lower energy consumption compared to PTFE-containing products.
This innovation helps our customers achieve reductions in Scope 1 emissions while generating significant savings. In addition, the new AddWorks PPA line of polymer processing aids enables melt fracture control, efficient extrusion and optimal film quality, meeting the need for more sustainable additives and ensuring compliance with strict environmental regulations in this area.
Stefan Brejc, Global Vice President of the Coatings & Adhesives segment, emphasizes Clariant's innovative approach, stating: "Our commitment to more sustainable chemistry drives us to develop solutions that reduce environmental impact while meeting our customers' performance demands."
