Argentina. The companies Sinteplast, Resinas Concordia S.R.L. and Brenntag Argentina S.A. (Zárate) obtained the certification of the Program of Responsible Care of the Environment (PCRMA), an initiative coordinated by the Argentine Chamber of the Chemical and Petrochemical Industry (CIQyP).
The PCRMA is voluntary and can be adopted by companies involved in the production, storage, distribution and treatment of chemical products. It recognizes organizations that comply with environmental management practices aligned with the requirements of the program.
On this occasion, Sinteplast —dedicated to the manufacture and marketing of paints, coatings and construction materials—; Brenntag – a company in the distribution market for ingredients and chemical products; and Resinas Concordia —belonging to the Bakelite Synthetics group, producer of special resins and thermosetting compounds— developed processes that comply with the standards defined by the CIQyP.
Mónica Bazán, Regional Manager Southern Cone of Brenntag Essentials Latin America Argentina, said: "As a global company, our management system is based on the best industry standards and practices, and the Responsible Care of the Environment Program is part of that approach. Being certified in ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 9001, our system already covers all the requirements of the Program, however, obtaining this certification reaffirms our commitment to caring for the environment. Considering these aspects and achieving the standards required by the program strengthens our management and positions us more solidly in the face of the challenges of the environment. The CIQyP has been a key partner, providing us with guidance and facilitating the exchange of good practices with other companies."
For her part, Ayelén Rigoni, Head of Environment at Resinas Concordia S.R.L., said: "Achieving the PCRMA standards has been a very significant achievement for our plant and a reflection of the team's commitment to operational excellence and sustainability. Adherence to the Program especially strengthened our bond with the community and reinforced our internal culture of safety, health and environment, promoting a more transparent, measurable and participatory management. In turn, the accompaniment of the CIQyP was key throughout the certification process."
The purpose of the PCRMA is to sustainably manage risks related to the handling, transportation, and treatment of chemical products, with a focus on continuous improvement in environmental, occupational health, and safety.
The program is promoted in Argentina by the CIQyP and is present in nine Latin American countries under different names, also approved by the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Oriental Republic of Uruguay.
