LETTER TO THE EDITOR

In a market where technological progress is usually modest but important, coatings for the maritime and aerospace industries are opening a new episode.

I have always thought that writing about paints and coatings has given me the opportunity to learn and learn about an industry that, outside of our industrial field, few know and also little interest in knowing. How much do you know about paintings? How are they made? Is there money in that industry? These are questions often asked to me by my friends or acquaintances who have nothing to do with the guild.

As a journalist and editor of Inpra Latina Magazine, I feel very outraged when I try to communicate with a certain company for an interview or consultation and their response is: "No thanks, I am not interested in participating." Respecting, of course, all positions and decisions, I feel that these kinds of answers belong more to thoughts of the last century, when being conservative was a position that companies used to protect themselves from competition, so to speak.

Many people constantly contact me to ask if I have articles or documents where figures from the paints and coatings market in their respective countries can be found. Unfortunately they are data that are still very difficult to obtain, because in Latin America there is no ideal organization to do this kind of studies.

2018 will have different events that will give an interesting dynamic to the economic sector in each of the countries of Latin America. The context seems to be favorable, according to analysts, which we also expect to have an impact on our paints and coatings industry.
