United States. Emerald Kalama Chemical, a business unit of Emerald Performance Materials, celebrated its 50 years of operation with the opening of its new technical center located in Kalama, Washington.
The new technical center focuses on supporting the applications and formulations of Emerald customers worldwide and on the development of K-FLEX® technology, non-coalescing plasticizer-free phthalates.
According to the company, market demand led to the need to create a new technical center, as customers are looking for more environmentally friendly materials that have low VOCs, biodegradability and a more favorable regulatory profile in products than phthalate-based plasticizers and traditional high-VOC coalescing.
The opening ceremony featured nearly 150 customers and suppliers, and federal, state and local government officials, as well as employees and other key stakeholders, including a lunch program, official ribbon cutting and tour of the new facility.
