Mexico. According to the National Statistical Directory of Economic Units (Denue) 2022, Manufacture of Paints, Coatings and Adhesives registered 708 economic units in Mexico.
This is reported by Data Mexico in a recent report, according to which the states with the highest number of economic units in that year were the State of Mexico (109), Jalisco (88) and Guanajuato (87).
Likewise, according to Denue data published in November 2022, 378 companies with zero to ten employees were registered (4 companies less than the previous period). In the same period, 232 companies with 11 to 50 employees were registered (six companies more than the previous period).
On the other hand, 35 companies with 51 to 100 employees were registered in 2022 (the same number of companies as the previous period). At the same time, 63 companies with more than 101 employees were registered (2 more companies than the previous period).
Production
In the fourth quarter of 2023, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), Industrias Manufacturas recorded a gross domestic product of $5.18B MX, evidencing a drop of 2.09% compared to the previous quarter and a drop of 0.99% compared to the same period of the previous year.
According to data from the 2019 Economic Census, there were a total of 608 economic units in the Manufacture of Paints, Coatings and Adhesives, highlighting the State of Mexico (94), Guanajuato (80) and Jalisco (80).
Total gross production was $70,457M MX. The states with the highest total gross production were Estado de México ($26,119M MX) and Nuevo León ($17,078M MX).
Total revenue amounted to $74,636M MX in 2019, with the entities with the highest revenues being Estado de México ($27,305M MX) and Nuevo León ($17,759M MX).
Foreign Direct Investment
In the period January to September 2023, according to the Ministry of Economy, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the Manufacture of Paints, Coatings and Adhesives was US$33.6M, distributed in reinvestment of profits (US$383M), new investments (US$0) and intercompany accounts (-US$349M).
From January 1999 to September 2023, the cumulative amount of FDI in Paints, Coatings and Adhesives Manufacturing was US$3,467M, distributed in new investments (US$2,436M), reinvestment of profits (US$2,030M) and intercompany accounts (-US$999M).
Historically (from January 1999 to September 2023) the states that have received the highest FDI are the State of Mexico (US$2,196M), Nuevo León (US$547M), and Querétaro (US$291M).
Specialization and opportunity
Finally, according to Data Mexico, the states with the highest degree of development opportunity in the Manufacture of Paints, Coatings and Adhesives according to the Relatedness index were Coahuila de Zaragoza (0.64), Baja California (0.64) and Sonora (0.58).
