Mexico. The state of Sonora, located in northeastern Mexico, will host a new plant for thermal spray coatings and special processes for aerospecial components of the company Ellison Surgace Technologies, the company announced.
The news was announced in the framework of the Farnborough International Air Show, and a start of operations is projected for the end of 2013.
Michael Ellison, President and CEO of Ellison Surface Technologies, said: "Mexican expansion is a major part of our long-term strategic initiatives and we look forward to being an integral part of the growing aerospace and industrial gas turbine manufacturing cluster in Sonora."
Similarly, Moisés Gómez, Secretary of Economy for the State of Sonora, said that "Ellison's investment marks a significant expansion of Sonora's capabilities in the manufacture of aircraft engine parts and industrial gas turbines."
The official also added that "the complex coating processes that Ellison will perform, will offer important commercial opportunities for our companies that specialize in machining for the aerospace industry and will open the door for new investments in the area."
