Argentina. Under the theme of the 140th Anniversary of Ushuaia, AkzoNobel and its paint brand Alba, within the framework of its global program "Come to color", accompanied Argentine artists in the elaboration of 11 new murals.
This is part of the fifth edition of the International Meeting of Muralism of the End of the World EMUSH 2024, organized by the Secretariat of Culture and Education of the Municipality of Ushuaia.
The municipal initiative, which brought together 11 artists representing the province, the country and a guest from Brazil, portrayed in the works the history, illustrious people, flora, fauna and myths that are part of the Fuegian identity. Along with the work of wall intervention, the artists gave the cycle of talks "Beyond the Walls" in the "Ego Pereda" Foyer, sharing with the community tools and techniques of the activity.
Among the works is an intervention dedicated to the 120th Anniversary of Argentina's permanent and uninterrupted presence in Antarctica, a key element in the composition of the identity of the people of Ushuaia. These works will be added to the more than 300 works that form the artistic identity of the city
Belén Molina, the Secretary of Culture and Education of the Municipality of Ushuaia, highlighted: "This edition was special for us because it presents the 140th Anniversary of our Ushuaia, it is something that fills us with pride and gratitude because the artists knew how to capture in each of their works the feelings of the people of Ushuaia."
And he added: "To have the support and sponsorship of Alba, which makes possible the continuous growth of this initiative that Mayor Walter Vuoto has promoted throughout his administration. The EMUSH has generated a strong link between the community and the works that decorate our city, since they are rooted year after year in themes that cross and involve us."
"On this occasion we will be counting on 11 local artists, from all over the country and a special guest from Brazil who carried out an intervention dedicated to the 120th Anniversary of Argentina's permanent and uninterrupted presence in Antarctica, a key element in the composition of our identity as Ushuaienses," said the official.
Fernando Domingues, General Director of Decorative Paints at AkzoNobel for the Southern Cone, highlighted: "Color has a transformative power in people's lives and for us it is an honor to be able to participate in this type of initiative in which the talent of the artists and the commitment of the authorities and the accompaniment of the neighbors are evidenced. for making their city a better place."
