Brazil. The multinational company AkzoNobel has reached an agreement to supply roof coverings for the famous Maracanã football stadium, which will host the final of the 2014 World Cup.
Additionally, the Dutch company secured a contract to paint the mezzanine of the Arena of the Football Club Grêmio de Porto Alegre. The financial details of these two contracts were not disclosed.
The contract with the Maracanã involves the supply of the Interseal 670HS protection coating, while for the Gremio stadium, AkzoNobel will implement the Interseal 670HS and the Interfine 979, both products of the marine and protective coating line.
The company had already participated in the application of coatings in stadiums of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. In Brazil, AkzoNobel employs more than 2,800 people and its profits in 2011 totaled 950 million euros.
