Colombia. The presence of important companies in the sector of raw materials for formulation present at the last congress and commercial exhibition Andina Paint 2012 was a sign of interest in increasing participation in the Colombian market.
At the fair held on March 7 and 8 in Bogotá, which was attended by 36 exhibiting firms, more than 180 attendees to the talks and around 350 visitors belonging to the industry, the commitment of the companies to offer products with an environmentally friendly trend was also confirmed.
Gabriel Ángel González, director of operations of Soluteq and new president of Star (Association of Andean Technicians in Coatings), commented on the green trend that "everything points towards that path; we know that change will happen slowly, but I believe that in a few years the industry will focus entirely on that trend and we can see that in this edition of Andina Paint".
The companies also said they are focused on regulating the constant increase in the value of some of the raw materials that modify the prices of their products. This was mentioned by Edgar Gacharná, technical manager of the Colombian distributor Mesa Hermanos: "During this year the market will remain stable, although there will be some price increases in certain raw materials; therefore, we must be prepared and design strategies to continue offering our customers competitive prices without affecting their business."
On the other hand, the space for the conferences specialized in deepening topics on nanotechnology, water-based solvent-based systems, sustainability, dispersions with low VOC content, as well as to know the new and emerging technologies in the world of coatings.
