International. Research institute Ceresana Research forecast that the global surfactant market will generate profits of more than $41 billion by 2018, which translates into an average annual growth of 4.5%.
With 37% of global consumption, Asia-Pacific is the country with the best record, followed by North America and Western Europe.
The study indicates that the South American market will also experience "strong growth", thanks to massive increases in production in Brazil.
Annually, Ceresana estimates that surfactants used for the personal care and cosmetics market will see the highest growth. In South America, the percentage would increase annually by 4.8%. Other applications such as adhesives and lubricants would account for 11% of global consumption.
