United States. Honeywell announced that it has purchased Evonik Industries ' portfolio of manufacturing technology, including patents, for the production of polyethylene waxes used in a wide variety of applications, from paints and coatings to adhesives and inks.
The technology includes Ziegler-Natta catalysts, which are used to produce polymers such as the polyethylene with which it has been working since 1956. Currently, most plastics and chemicals manufactured in the world use this technology.
"This acquisition will complement Honeywell's line of wax additives, which make paints and coatings more durable. This negotiation will expand Honeywell's ability to develop new additives that can solve a variety of challenges for our customers in the paints, plastics, coatings, adhesives and inks market," said Lincoln Germain, business director of Honeywell Specialty Additives business.
