European Union. According to a new bank of america (BAC) report published by MarketPublishers.com, demand for acrylic resins in the European Union (EU) is on a downward trend.
In 2010 the demand amounted to 471,800 tons; between 2006 and 2010 the consumption of alkyd resins fell by 30%. According to the study, the decline is motivated by the economic challenges of recent years and the drop in demand for acrylic paints in favor of environmentally friendly materials.
Germany is one of the countries that produces and consumes the most alkyd resins with 37%. In 2010 it produced 190,000 tons and provided 45,000 tons for export. Other significant markets for this product are concentrated in Italy and France.
Alkyd resins are used in a wide range of paint applications such as architectural and maintenance where excellent durability is needed. This product, however, remains the leader in the Paint Market in the European Union.
