With more than three centuries of experience in the market, Leighs Paints, the company recently acquired by Sherwin-Williams, is known for developing Firetex technology, used in more than 400 offshore platforms, refineries and chemical plants worldwide. In addition, it includes a series of numb coatings that react to fire thanks to their rapid swelling, forming a thick barrier that protects the steel substrate from structural failure.
With its acquisition, in addition to the line for the hydrocarbon market, called Passive Fire Protection, its new owner will be able to expand the product offer to the global market, achieving greater depth in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Narsi Bodapati, Vice President of Marketing at Sherwin-Williams, said: "Leighs has established itself in the marine protection segments thanks to its offering of fireproof intumescent products, high-performance coatings and protective coatings. With their addition, we gained a team of structural engineers specializing in fire science and will allow us to help project owners meet the specifications of this crucial area."
