Brazil. On September 13, the Sectorial Program for the Quality of Real Estate Paints (PSQ) celebrated 22 years of its creation.
This program has promoted a radical transformation in the market, establishing a business environment with clear rules and based on technical standards, which encourages fair competition and constant investment in innovation.
Coordinated by Abrafati, the PSQ is part of the Brazilian Program for Habitat Quality and Productivity (PBQP-H), of the Federal Government, whose objective is to improve and modernize products in the civil construction sector.
The program guarantees the quality of paints in the Brazilian market through quarterly product analyses, in accordance with the specifications of the ABNT (Brazilian Association of Technical Standards). This serious and consistent work has allowed the PSQ to gain increasing recognition among all actors involved in the production, resale, recommendation, purchase and application of paints. In addition, the government and consumer protection agencies use it as a reference.
Today, anyone in any corner of Brazil can access paints of recognized quality: more than 1.2 billion liters are introduced annually into the market by the 48 manufacturers that are part of the PSQ. This number continues to increase, as the program is open to all interested companies, without the need to be a member of Abrafati. The only requirement to participate is to produce paintings in accordance with technical standards.
