Mexico. The Chemours Company announced that the Altamira Titanium Technologies plant was recognized with the "EHS Excellence Award" for environmental, health and safety (EHS) performance achieved in 2023, the third year to do so in the last 4 years.
This recognition was given to plants that achieved the goals set by the American Chemistry Council (ACC). To celebrate this important achievement, a ceremony was held on April 16 led by operational staff who spoke of perseverance and discipline.
" At Chemours Altamira, not a single shift goes by where we aren't actively speaking up and living our core value of 'Safety Obsession.' For us, it's more than a job – it's a personal responsibility that we take seriously because the plant is next door to a residential neighborhood where many of our employees and their families live. I want to thank the American Chemistry Council and congratulate the entire Altamira team for this important achievement," said Mario Hernández Velázquez, Altamira plant manager.
Opened in 1960, with an expansion of line two in 2016, the Chemours Altamira manufacturing facility employs nearly 700 workers and contractors from the Tampico region. The site is one of the world's largest producers of titanium dioxide (TiO₂), a key component in some of the whitest, brightest, most efficient and durable applications for architectural, automotive and aerospace coatings, plastics, laminates and paper.
