International. Avient Corporation and BASF are now collaborating to bring colored grades of Ultrason high-performance polymers to the global market.
The color grades feature BASF's Ultrason polyaryletethersulfones (PAES) as a high-quality base polymer combined with Avient's Colorant Chromatics' high-temperature color formulation expertise for color concentrates and precolored solutions.
According to both companies, the collaboration will provide customers in industries such as home and catering, electrical and electronics (E&E) and healthcare with a distinctive benefit by providing comprehensive technical support from the base polymer to the final colored product.
As a result, customers will be able to react more quickly to design trends, meet technical requirements and color standards, and thus increase speed to market.
The full-colour Ultrason wallet can also contribute to a more sustainable lifestyle by enabling high-quality, reusable household and catering items.
Products can be reused by consumers and recirculated by caterers many times while maintaining performance and design. Thus, they support a circular economy, avoiding single-use plastics and reducing packaging waste caused by conventional, take-away and take-away catering items.
"The market requirements for high-performance colored polymers are clear: you must react quickly and also be able to supply multiple volumes of colored material," said Anne Hippert, general manager of Colorant Chromatics at Avient.
"With this collaboration, we can offer the best of both worlds in high-performance polymers. Avient is known for its specialized color solutions, which respect customers' end-use requirements, and BASF is known for its excellent Ultrason quality and extensive material competence," added Hippert.
"Together, we are committed to bringing innovative PAES to market, overcoming color challenges in multiple industries, including the home and food industry, where we see the use of Ultrason as a perfect fit for our customers' sustainability efforts by promoting attractive colors for safe applications."
Florian Hennenberger, Global Business Development Ultrason at BASF, said: "Avient's Colorant Chromatics business is known for being a provider of strong and agile color solutions for specialty polymers, while BASF is a renowned producer of high-quality Ultrason."
"By working together, we can now offer custom colors with Ultrason as the base material for new and existing customers," he added.
Avient and BASF have a long history of collaboration in the field of polyarylethersulfones. Through this next stage of cooperation, companies can more easily meet the demand for orders of various sizes with short lead times and the ability to serve different industries.
