International. PPG announced a $1.7 million investment in a new dispensing cell at its coatings manufacturing facility in Kunshan, China. The new cell, which is expected to be fully operational in January 2019, will increase production flexibility and productivity on site, while offering significant cost savings, shorter delivery cycles and lower emissions.
"Our Kunshan facility is tasked with supplying our customers with protective and marine coatings in China locally. This investment will offer a rapid response supply tailored to the needs of our protection customers in China," said Mike Horton, vice president of protective and marine coatings for Asia Pacific. The dispensing cell will produce the required quantity and quality of the protective coating product in a matter of minutes in a closed process that maximizes environmental performance."
The Kunshan plant produces protective and marine coatings and houses PPG Asia's Research and Development (R&D) Center, the company's regional center for R&D. The Kunshan plant is ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 certified. In addition, Kunshan's passive fire protection coatings laboratory previously received China Mandatory Certification (CCC) and certificate of participation in the Underwriter Laboratories (UL) Witness Test Test Data Program in the U.S.
