International. The chemical company Songwon announced that it has put into operation a new production line at its headquarters in Suwon, South Korea, for the manufacture and distillation of Songsorb's CS 400 UV stabilizer.
With a total capacity of approximately 1,000 metric tons, it enables fully integrated in-house manufacturing of Songsorb CS 400 at all stages, from the intermediate product to the finished product.
In addition to this product, other additives for individual coatings are produced on site, as well as mixtures of UV absorbers and light stabilizers of impeded amines.
"This production line, together with our newly established Technology Innovation Center in Maeam, demonstrates the company's commitment to assisting coatings customers in developing next-generation solutions for light and heat stabilization," said Rosanna Telesca, Coatings Marketing Center Leader.
Songsorb CS 400 is a liquid UV absorber of hydroxyphenyl triazine (HPT) designed to ensure high performance and durability in industrial and automotive finishes based on water and solvents, as well as 100% solids. It has very high thermal stability and extraordinary strength in coatings exposed to high cooking cycles and/or extreme external conditions. It is suitable for use in coatings catalyzed with amines and metals, substrates containing such catalysts and coatings applied on top layers.
As part of its expansion strategy, Songwon is using its expertise to further develop the technologies it offers and strengthen its focus on specialty chemicals for coatings, inks and adhesives, among other applications.
