International. Boeing has passed a major milestone in its painting partnership with AkzoNobel after the 787th delivery of its 787 series aircraft. The flagship aircraft was painted in a special livery for China Southern Airlines, using the company's base layer/transparent layer system.
At the same time, Boeing recently delivered its 1,000th new aircraft that was painted with AkzoNobel's Aerodur 3001/3002 paint system.
Aerodur 3001/3002 is the aerospace paint system that AkzoNobel has been supplying to Boeing since 2010, and has been supplying a transparent base layer/layer to the aircraft manufacturer since 2014.
"Our partnership with Boeing stands out in the industry and is a great source of pride for AkzoNobel," said John Griffin, the company's Director of Aerospace Segments. "As we celebrate these important milestones together, we are grateful for the trust Boeing has placed in our products and services and congratulate Boeing on the 787th delivery of the 787."
Griffin added that, "AkzoNobel's Aerodur 3001/3002 remains the only base layer/transparent layer paint system qualified to meet Boeing's paint specifications, and this is one of the reasons driving AkzoNobel to the leading position in the aerospace coatings market."
The Aerodur system stands out for two main reasons: reduced application time and improved durability. This translates into a drastic reduction in downtime. It also provides excellent gloss and color retention, superior chemical and stain resistance, flexibility, and weathering performance. This explains why he has become a trendsetter in the aerospace industry. Airlines that once ordered monolayer systems now specify the base layer/transparent layer system.
