International. Professionals at the Beijing Institute of Technology in China synthesized a new type of two-component, green and functional, water-based water-based polyurethane and its coating was synthesized by adding polyurethane polyol dispersions, hydrophilic nanoTiO2 and hydrophilic curing agent.
Properties and analysis were characterized by FTIR, laser particle analyzer, rheometer, TEM, TGA, TGA-FTIR testing, LOI, SEM, UV-vis spectrum, water and solvent resistance. The results showed that tensile strength could reach 22.3MPa. And nanoTiO2 delayed the rate of thermal decomposition to improve the thermostability of two-component water-based polyurethane.
Larger amounts of hydrophilic nanoTiO2 did not produce a larger, uninterrupted non-rotating carbon yield surface or thicker carbon layers, but effectively produced a condensed phase flame retardant effect with OP550 during combustion.
In addition, LOI and UL-94 also reached more than 29.4% and V-0 respectively. Protection against UV and visible light increased markedly with the addition of nanoTiO2. The 0.5% nanoTiO2 content had the optimal properties in water-based polyurethane coatings of two green and functional components.
