International. Due to a potential shortage of photoinitiators as reported by the European Printing Ink Association (EuPIA), Sun Chemical reported that its customers receiving energy-curable inks could experience delays in product delivery in the future.
Government initiatives and regulations geared towards environmental protection have led many photoinitiator suppliers to cease or reduce production for limited periods of time. In addition, the declaration of force majeure in a variety of manufacturing plants has led to unplanned production and maintenance disruptions.
"Sun Chemical is working hard to safeguard supply and mitigate potential photoinitiator shortages by qualifying new grades and developing new sources," said Felipe Mellado, chief marketing officer and board member of Sun Chemical.
"We encourage our customers to call their sales representative if they have any questions or concerns."
