Brazil. At Abrafati 2017, Wacker presented the most diverse polymer and silicone-based products for the paints and coatings, adhesives and graphic materials industries in the region.
Among others, the company showed Primis® SAF 9000 dispersion and Silres® BS 710 silicone to easily remove scratches from surfaces. In addition to the Vinnapas® EF 575 dispersion for caulking and sealing masses, the group also presents the Vinnapas® EP 3360 dispersion for the formulation of very low-smell indoor inks, as well as the Vinnol® E 18/38 resin for fingerprint. In parallel, Wacker is launching three binder applications and two new silicone products for industrial coatings in the South American market.
Dirt-resistant surfaces, easy to clean and care for
A special highlight at this year's Abrafati is Wacker's new solutions for treating surfaces to increase their resistance to dirt. Due to its special composition, the Primis® SAF 9000 dispersion is both oleophobic and hydrophobic, protecting the ink film from the most diverse stains - from coffee to colored pencil, through red wine. The addition of 10 to 20% of the dispersion in relation to the main binder allows dirt to be removed from the wall with a common sponge.
The new Silres® BS 710 silicone is a silicone elastomer that heals at room temperature and with exposure to moisture. Thanks to the permanently elastic silicone film, scratches can be easily removed with water and adhesives. An interesting advantage: the product contains neither tin-based catalysts nor oximes, and its formulation only requires very little solvent.
Vinnapas® EP 3360 dispersions based on vinyl-ethylene acetate (VAE) are indicated for matte to semi-gloss paints, with high abrasion resistance and better covering power than conventional, acrylic-based systems, the same volumetric concentration of pigments (PVC). The product also has a very low residual monomer content (<200 ppm) as well as a very low formaldehyde content (<20 ppm) and does not need organic or coalescing solvents for film formation.
