International. PPG has announced its Color of the Year for 2018: The Blackhearth. A unique black paint color with shades of purple that according to the company offers comfort and a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of life and constant connectivity.
The Blackhearth offers the following features:
- Like a black dress, Blackhearth's elegance makes it a versatile color that can be paired with just about anything and transform a room to suit any mood.
- The palette emphasizes authentic and charming color combinations, especially with rustic and antique colors such as Peppered Pecan, a comforting shade of cocoa; spicy mustard, a dark yellow and Chili Pepper, a softened coral
- By pairing Blackhearth with any of these colors, a home's palette can emulate a spirit that is easy to carry and unpretentious.
- For a simpler palette that allows the elements of the décor to take center stage, it can be paired with classic neutrals such as moonlit snow, a cool white; clay blue, a soothing blue; and the silver dollar, a comforting grey
- The palette offers a number of color combinations that allow Blackhearth to be the main character in the home, or take on a supporting role.
"Right now, many consumers want to make sure their styles and voices don't fade on their backs, and Blackhearth offers the perfect opportunity to make a statement at home," said Misty Yeomans, color marketing manager for the Pittsburgh Paints & Stains brand. "Its deep tones provide a sense of security that consumers seek in their everyday lives. The subtle notes of grey and purple allow for a captivating look that can transform any space."
