Paint specialists at Bombardier's Service Center in Tucson, Arizona, have used a three-layer PPG Topcoat system to create a top-of-the-art finish on Carrington's Bombardier Global Express XRS aircraft.
Paint professionals from MOGave, California, from PPG, blended the Desothane HS 8000 finish into Carrington Pearl Blue, which was applied over the white Desothane HS 8800 topcoat in a luminescent graduated horizontal stripe on the fuselage, along the leading edge of the vertical stabilizer and through the engine fairing.
Metallic titanium and Las Vegas gold stripes run through the plane, with stripes and the fuselage background painted in metallic blue, all with the Desothane HS 8000 finish. A final layer of the transparent Desothane HS 8800 over the aircraft enhanced the finish with high gloss and superior image reflection.
"The overall effect is absolutely stunning," said Carrington CEO Bruce Rose, owner and pilot of a Bombardier Global Express aircraft. "Although we have had the same fleet paint scheme for over 10 years, the updated version with Carrington Pearl Blue was made possible by the incredible efforts of the PPG and Bombardier Tucson teams. The plane draws a crowd on the ramp wherever you go. It's really a unique aircraft. The rest of our fleet will be updated to match."
