The paint manufacturer Comex, in an agreement with the National Institute of Older Adults (INAPAM), confirmed the collaboration to hire older adults and work within the establishments of the company belonging to PPG.
In this context, during the first stage of the employment linkage and expansion strategy, Comex will grant a well-paid formal job to one older adult for every four establishments that meet the conditions required for their well-being. It is a thousand stores nationwide, which translates into 25% of all its points of sale.
According to a report by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), by 2050 the percentage of aging among the Mexican population is estimated at 26.% compared to 7.1% in 1975.
In addition, as reported by the National Survey of Occupation and Employment of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) 2014, the economic participation rate of the population aged 60 and over is 33.7%, of which 50.5 percent work informally, and 4.9 percent are workers who do not receive remuneration or benefits.
The commercial vice president of PPG Comex, Alfonso Félix, celebrated the signing of this alliance as an opportunity to transform the work culture, by learning from the skills, commitment, punctuality, quality and warmth that seniors can provide.
