Argentina. The Ibero-American Technological Association of Paints, Adhesives and Inks (Atipat), will hold the International Course in super-intensive format of chemical formulator of coatings, which will begin on February 1.
The six-week course, which will be held at the Atipat headquarters in Buenos Aires (Güemes 1397 - Vicente López), will provide training in formulation, production and application of paints to students, technicians and industry professionals.
The program includes six modules divided as follows:
- Week 1: February 1 – Solvents, pigments, fillers and additives (part 1).
Generalities, types of additives used in coatings.
- Week 2: February 8 – Additives (part 2) and polymers.
Solubility parameters. Polymerization in emulsion, alkyd polyesters, acrylics, polyurethanes, epoxies, natural resins, ketonic; functionality and ways of using additives.
- Week 3: February 15 – Production, inks and textured coatings.
Fundamentals, pigment dispersion, surface phenomena, mill stability.
Formulation of flexographic, gravure, lithographic, screen printing inks, among others.
Week 4: February 22 – Formulation 1.
Home and construction paints, powder paints, for coil coatings, industrial; cost calculation.
Week 5: February 29 – Formulation 2.
Industrial, marine, automotive, artistic, leather maintenance paints, for textile printing.
Week 6: March 7 – Color, quality, application.
Quality control of coatings, color adjustment of paints.
The organization indicated that exams will be taken at the end of each weekly course, and those who pass all the exams receive the title as Chemical Formulator of Paintings.
