Many people constantly contact me to ask if I have articles or documents where figures from the paints and coatings market in their respective countries can be found. Unfortunately they are data that are still very difficult to obtain, because in Latin America there is no ideal organization to do this kind of studies.
They ask me if I have TiO2 figures in Colombia, if I know how much the industry is going to grow in the South of the continent or in the Andean region; but all those queries I have to direct towards the global market studies carried out by consulting companies and that, due to the valuable information that is there, have a high value.
Ideally, associations should be able to provide us with this kind of report, and therefore I believe that companies should support them more to study and organize this kind of information, which at the same time, contributes to the generation of more training spaces, technical visits, virtual seminars, etc.
A good successful example of this is in Mexico, where the National Association of Manufacturers of Paints and Inks (Anafapyt) publishes a complete report on the Mexican market every year with figures, results and estimates, a document that is in high demand for the quality of the information.
Therefore, I invite associations such as Abrafati in Brazil, ATIPAT in Argentina, and STAR (Andean Association of Coatings Technicians) to be encouraged to lead projects like these that allow us to visualize much better what is happening with the industry.
I emphasize that manufacturers and other members of the sector support the strengthening of our associations, because in this way, the industry will be the main beneficiary.
