Germany. Orion Engineered Carbons announces that it will expand its gas blacks production capacity at its Kalscheuren plant in Cologne, Germany, in response to the growing demand for water-based coatings and solvents with specialized carbon black.
"The capacity expansion in Cologne is a further step in the rapid realignment of Orion's portfolio towards higher value-added Carbon Blacks for specialized and technical rubber applications," said Corning Painter, CEO of Orion.
Sandra Niewiem, Vice President of the specialized business line at Carbon Black, said: "Cologne's products are shipped globally to customers in various high-end coatings and printing applications, including high-end automotive refinishing, antistatic coatings, as well as UV curing packaging and inks. This initiative reflects our customers' high confidence in Orion's products and technical support capabilities."
Orion gas black has a high fineness and a very narrow particle distribution to offer the darkest specialized carbon black available to meet the demands of coating customers.
