Colombia. The Association of Andean Technicians in Coatings (STAR) held on March 23 the Ordinary Assembly of Associates in which the new Board for the period 2017-2018 was constituted in which Julián A. Restrepo R., who has been a columnist for Inpra Latina for more than 10 years, was appointed as the new president.
This novelty occurred in Assembly #18, which was held with remote connection for associates in Bogotá and with the participation of a total of 14 members. In this meeting, among other details, the until then President and legal representative of the Association, Álvaro Salazar, presented his letter of resignation, citing strictly professional issues, since he moves from home to another city. Álvaro leaves the Association after 11 months in office, being a member of the board for more than 8 years.
In this regard, Julián commented: "My expectations are to contribute to the dynamization of the Association and to organize a greater number of technical activities for the sector; and in particular, to reach a greater number of technicians and integrate them more actively, that is, that they can participate directly in the Board or through our events. "
Regarding the first actions he will take as president of STAR, he commented that "my interest is to be able to make an adequate connection with Álvaro Salazar, as outgoing president, to be adequately aware of the issues in the making and especially, in progress with other Associations in the region and resume contacts both in Colombia and the sister Associations."
