Mexico. Javier Maldonado Moctezuma, owner of the Home PSI Pinturas brand and former president of the Mexican Franchise Network, has been appointed as the new president of the Latin American Federation of Paint Manufacturers.
The federation currently has seven member countries and hopes to soon add 10 more throughout the region. Now, the new leader of this guild has the goal of reinforcing quality standards in the sector.
Maldonado recognized Brazil's leadership as the main consumer country of paints in Latin America, with a consumption of eight liters per inhabitant, followed by Mexico, whose consumption is between 5.5 and 7.5 liters on average, according to the style and brand of paint. In the United States the consumption is 20 liters per inhabitant.
On the other hand, the leader acknowledged the existence in Mexico of contraband, but stressed that this phenomenon does not exceed 1% of total sales, and emphasized creating tools that allow the consumer to analyze in greater depth the defects in the paints.
