Mexico. As part of the Innovation Day event, the company presented a series of innovative approaches for the manufacturing industry, focusing on sustainability, efficiency, digitalization and mobility.
The Innovation Day event is part of its business objective to lead the agenda for the development of new technologies.
The state's industrial diversity, which encompasses sectors such as agribusiness, food, iron, automotive, appliances, plastics, automotive systems, electrical-electronics, and aerospace, demonstrates its potential as a center of dynamic economic activity.
Among the main solutions presented by the company, the following stand out:
- In the digital field for the automotive industry, PPG presented Optima Solutions™, an artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technology system that stands out for its focus on improving the quality of its customers' manufacturing processes and products, by analyzing large amounts of data in real time to predict and prevent problems, improve color processes, and optimize material consumption, leading to significant waste reductions and time and cost savings for manufacturers.
- As part of the fire protection solutions, PPG Pitt-Char®, a passive fire protection coating system, is designed to resist fires caused by hydrocarbons, with technology resistant to extreme environments, both onshore and offshore. In addition, it is thin and light, reducing costs and allowing for faster application.
- On the other hand, PPG Steelguard™ 119W, water-based acrylic intumescent, is ideal for protecting against cellulosic fires in public places such as hospitals, schools, cinemas, gyms, skyscrapers, etc. This technology reacts with fire or heat, converting combustible carbon compounds into non-combustible carbon, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide. This chemical reaction forms a dense layer of foam that, when carbonized, acts as an insulating barrier.
- As a more sustainable solution for light industry, PPG introduced its Selemix solution that offers water-based primers and finishes that not only provide quality and strength for a wide variety of surfaces, but also have a lower impact on the environment.
As an alternative to liquid coatings, PPG showcased Envirocron®, a versatile powder coating that ranges from transportation market applications such as subway and train interiors to tough, vibrant finishes for electronics and appliances.
"What makes PPG's powder coatings even more exceptional is their electrostatic application process and high efficiency. Not only does this technology ensure uniform and long-lasting coverage, but it also optimizes production processes by reducing the time and energy required. In this way, we are not only protecting surfaces, but also reducing our environmental footprint," said Guillermo Peña, Director of Industrial Coatings for PPG Mexico.
