International. Profits from global surfactant consumption could rise from $27.04 billion in 2012 to $36.518 billion for 2017, growing at an estimated Carg (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of 6.19% during the period in question.
The study presented by Markets & Markets indicates that synthetic surfactants would occupy most of the market in the next five years compared to bio-based surfactants. Europe would be the region with the highest consumption of this class of chemicals, followed by North America and Asia Pacific, the latter would reach the second position in 2017.
Taking into account consumption by product type, anionic and non-ionic surfactants will constitute the largest percentage in 2012 and are expected to be the largest segment in 2017. From the point of view of surfactant consumption by applications, soap/detergent is the largest consumer market since 2012 and is estimated to remain the highest segment for 2017.
