International. Specialty chemical company Clariant and Wilmar International Limited have signed an agreement through their subsidiaries to establish a 50-50 joint venture as a global platform for the production and sale of amines and their selected derivatives.
The joint venture will be headquartered in Singapore with global sales and distribution and production subsidiaries. It is expected to become operational in the spring of 2013.
Clariant will contribute its Industrial and Consumer Specialties (ICS) business unit of sales activities of relevant amines and their derivatives defined for the joint venture, as well as the amine plant in Germany and the production capacity of its amine plant in Brazil. Wilmar, for its part, will bring a new plant in China, as well as its oleochemical expertise, including access to renewable raw materials.
