Brazil. The Ebitda operating profit of the South American firm Braskem registered a decrease of 27% to 845 million reais (about US$417 million) during the second quarter of this year.
Net losses for the period in question were 1,030 million reais (about US$508 million). The previous year, the company had earned a total of R$420 million.
Braskem, recognized as the largest petrochemical company in Latin America, also approved the creation of the fourth share repurchase program, following the decision of its board of directors, which seeks to obtain 5% of Class A shares that are in circulation.
