Developed countries rely on innovation to compete in polymer market

altInternational. According to a report by GBI Research, developed countries are focused on promoting their polymer application technology, while countries such as China and India continue to produce more of this input than their richer counterparts.

The report predicts that new applications for polymers will drive growth in the developed regions of Europe and North America, even though the growth rate will not be substantial at the global level, due to small market size for these innovations.

Overall, global demand for polymers for electrical and electronic applications is expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.9% to 23,293,511 tons in 2017, from a total of 15,601,841 tons in 2011.
