Evonik begins plant construction in Shanghai

altGermany/China. The multinational chemical company, Evonik Industries, held a ceremony for the start of the construction of production plants for the manufacture of isophorone and isoforondiamine located in the Shanghai Industrial Chemical Park.

The group invested more than 100 million euros in the plants, which are budgeted to start operating in the first quarter of 2014, after completing the construction phase that will take about two years.

"This integrated production platform will strengthen our presence in an important market and enable us to supply the needs of our customers in China and the entire Asia/Pacific region," said Dr. Dahai Yu, evonik's board member.

Initially the plants will have an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons.
