International. The company Basf has developed a new project to contribute to the progress of wind energy. It is a coating system to improve the efficiency of wind turbines, providing erosion protection on the front and leading edge of the rotor blades.
Wind energy is increasingly important in the industrial world, however it has the aggravating factor of being obliged to be economically efficient, an important challenge since wind turbines have a useful life of only 20 years, as they withstand conditions of tension of winds, water, UV radiation, hail and challenges with the bending of the material.
Consistent with this need, Basf includes Wind Leading Edge and Wind RepKit, the former being a coating system with high resistance to erosion, rain, sand and hail, ideal for wind turbines near shores; it also has flexible film thickness and a short drying time.
On the other hand, Wind RepKit is designed to protect the turbine rotor blades from wind, water, UV radiation, erosion and bending. It also contains all the tools required for the repair of turbines.
Also, as part of the kit, Basf specialists offer wind turbine operators and their employees training. Which once finished will allow operators to make professional, fast and simple repairs.
