International. Three well-known companies in the sector reported during the last week new increases in the prices of some of their specialties: Oxea, Valspar and Basf made the announcement.
First, Oxea announced that as of the first of April, or as its contracts allow, it will increase prices in the United States, Canada and Mexico. I/n butanol is up $0.05/lb,( list price $1.78l/b), butyl acetate i/n is up $0.05l/b (list price $1.51l/b), n butyraldehyde is up $0.05l/b (list price $1.45l/b), and n propyl acetate is up $0.05l/b (list price $1.34l/b).
In South and Central America , i/n butanol, i/n butyl acetate, n propanol and n propyl acetate will increase by US$110/mt.
For its part, Valspar announced that from the first of April it will increase the prices of its industrial coatings in liquid, powder and e-coat products. This action is generated due to the cost increases of raw materials for Ti02 and polyester and epoxy resins.
Finally, Basf reported that as of March 16 , it will increase the prices of resins and performance additives for the North American market by between 5 and 15 %.
