Honduras. In recent years, imports of paints from the United States to Honduras have skyrocketed, putting at risk the stability of local companies on account of the practices known as dumping, in which products with prices lower than those of the local market are entered, as reported by the Honduran Council of Private Enterprise, Cohep.
The director of the organization, Armando Urtecho, explained at a press conference that this phenomenon has at risk six paint manufacturing companies in the country, although he did not make direct reference to which of them have been encouraged to denounce the fact.
He added that the affected companies have already reported the fact to the authorities, particularly to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, but that there is still ignorance of the modus operandi of the people linked to the illicit act.
"They have not solved this case that already has a long time in Industry and Commerce, not only affects the private sector, but consumers because these products run the risk of being expired," said Urtecho and said that Cohep is working on the creation of a training program that allows companies to detect, denounce and compete against companies that import paints at lower prices.
