According to the report, water-based coatings have reported significant growth that in 2010 totaled US$24.8 million in 2010 and will increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5%, which in 2015 could be around US$31.6 million. These statistics confirm the trend observed in recent years in Latin America where the architectural coatings market has transformed to 90% of water-based formulations, compared to 10% of solvent-based coatings.
Meanwhile, the emerging technologies segment that includes powder coating was estimated at $18 billion by the end of 2010 and is expected to total $23 billion in 2015, which would mean a growth of 5.9%.
