Spain. Lanxess Bayferrox iron oxide pigments were implemented in the restoration of the historic buildings known as "Quatre Columnes", a group of four Ionic columns, which after 80 years in their original location, were rebuilt in the Montjuïc in Barcelona.
The concrete columns are colored with a shade of light brown color, for which, Europigments S. L, a subsidiary of Lanxess, formulated on the basis of Bayferrox 610 powder. "Our pigment formula gave the columns a natural, warm and opaque tone that follows the model of the original and corresponds harmoniously with the environment," said Isabel Zamora, technical product expert at Europigments.
Each column is 20 meters high. They were built with pre-fabricated concrete elements that have been colored using a total of 700 kilograms of brown pigmentation, which gives it greater tolerance regarding shades and colorations. Their chemical composition and structure ensures that inorganic pigments are stable to climate, light and UV rays.
