Mexico. A growing concern about the scarcity of titanium dioxide, as well as the presence of new water-based technologies with less environmental impact were the predominant elements of the 2011 version of the Latin American Coatings Show, which ended on July 14 in Mexico City.
One of the elements that most caught the attention of visitors was the growing participation of Chinese companies in the exhibition, most of which offered titanium dioxide and new pigments as main attractions.
However, in the aisles of the fair it was confirmed that the supply is much lower than the demand, while the suppliers assured that the situation will remain at least one more year, when operations will resume in the production plants closed during the crisis of 2008 and 2009.
The Organization of Latin American Coatings Show reported a 31% growth in the number of visitors, compared to the 2009 edition; in total, 3,667 people were registered, 856 more than two years ago, which shows the industrial recovery. The next edition will be held in Mexico, in July 2013.
