Restoration in Mexico

Mexico. Eastman Chemical  Company announced that its coating additive Cellulose Butyrate Acetate (CAB) was used in the restoration of the Angel of Independence, the most representative monument and symbol of Mexico. To restore and preserve the Angel, a first anticorrosive was applied to the bronze sculpture, followed by a thin layer of clay. The surface of the Angel was covered with a delicate layer of gold leaf in which Eastman™ CABs were used to protect it from corrosion and cracking that can occur from the impact of water filtration and smoke. Restoration on the stone column, base and obelisks consisted of a thorough cleaning and crack sealing process, followed by a coating containing Eastman™ CABs.
