Anticorrosive paints improve performance of stepper motors
International. The company Astrosyn International Technology revealed its satisfaction with the use of anti-corrosion coatings in its range of stepper hybrid engines, which have performed in humid and corrosive environments without being sealed.
A series of corrosion-resistant paints applied to all surfaces and components, both inside and outside, have allowed the engines to withstand prolonged contact, even in salt water. Traditionally, engines intended for harsh environments are equipped with seals on the shafts and outer bushings. Stepper motors are susceptible to corrosion effects, due to the small air voids between the rotors and stators.
The coatings and materials used in the new Astrosyn engines are adapted to each component. For example, permanent magnets, aluminum endbells and steel sheets are manufactured with the latest materials before receiving a suitable coating.
