Rhino Bioinhibitor Testing Helps Coatings Last Longer

Cerámica

United States. Rhino Shield has spent years perfecting its bio-resistant formula to combat stains caused by mold, algae and fungal growth.

Extensive field testing conducted by the coatings company has resulted in an improved product that fights the growth of these pesky fungi for decades.

"One of the distinguishing features of our Rhino Shield coatings is their resistance to biogrowth," said Mike Moore, AmCoat's director of products and applications.

"The four-part cocktail we use is very effective thanks to years of testing in specific environments where mold and mildew grow," he added.

Some of that field research led to an interesting discovery of a non-native fungal species.

"Four years ago, one of our biologists was collecting test samples from different species in parts of Florida," Moore said.

"They actually collected a species of mushroom that no one knew was in the U.S.; it was from the Caribbean and that may have been the first documented find in the country. We go to great lengths to ensure that our coatings are resistant to almost any type of growth," he said.

Coatings with an effective bio-package help them last longer and look better, reducing maintenance, cleaning, and the need for recoating.

"The Rhino Shield Biopack is an EPA-approved, four-part cocktail that, when added to our ceramic elastomeric formula, helps break the paint cycle," Moore said.

"Residential and commercial customers love that because they don't have to worry about repainting every five or seven years; That's a real saving," he said.

Rhino Shield continuously refines its coatings products and invests heavily in R+D over the years.

"Since we were acquired a couple of years ago, there has been a renewed emphasis on testing and R+D," Moore said.

"Our leadership wants to make sure we continue to deliver a superior product to our customers and they are making a substantial investment to achieve that," he said.

Rhino Shield's veteran-owned, U.S.-made elastomeric ceramic coating is eight to 10 times thicker than conventional paint and comes with a long-term product warranty.
