Kraton Introduces Anti-Fog Coatings for Personal Protective Equipment

Protección vaho

United States. Kraton Corporation, a sustainable producer of specialty polymers and high-value bio-based products derived from pine wood pulp co-products, introduces Nexar anti-fog coatings and films.

This solution is designed to address the persistent fogging issues that healthcare professionals experience when wearing personal protective equipment such as face shields and eye protection.

Through extensive research and innovation, Kraton has developed Nexar anti-fog coatings and films, which offer a state-of-the-art solution to the fogging problems commonly associated with certain PPEs.

Traditional face shields and goggles are prone to fogging up, causing discomfort and making it difficult to see clearly during critical procedures.

Nexar Anti-Fog technology helps provide healthcare workers with a superior solution that allows fog-free goggles to be worn for a long time, ensuring limitless visibility.

"As a company committed to the well-being of patients and healthcare workers, Kraton understands the importance of a clear vision to deliver exceptional care," said Jeff Mathers, Kraton's CEO.

"We are proud to introduce Nexar anti-fog coatings and films, which address the daily challenges faced by healthcare professionals. Our advanced technology allows healthcare workers to work comfortably with prolonged vision clarity, making their daily tasks safer and more efficient," added Mathers.

Nexar anti-fog coatings and films incorporate highly advanced technology that sets a new standard for protective eyewear. The solution combines hydrophobic and hydrophilic segments to effectively remove moisture that causes fogging while providing exceptional strength and flexibility as a coating or film.

Specialized nanochannels embedded in the coating and film surfaces can quickly capture and absorb moisture upon contact, leaving no time for fog to form.

According to the company, Nexar technology can absorb more than 200% of its weight in water, surpassing conventional technologies such as polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), which typically absorbs less than 45% of its weight.

In addition, Kraton's commitment to safety is evident in the absence of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), "permanent" chemicals found in many anti-fog options, providing the industry with a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative.
