Peru. Sika, a Swiss group dedicated to the manufacture and marketing of products for construction and industry, acquired the Peruvian company of additives and products for industry, mining and construction, Chema. The national company operates four plants in Peru.
The transaction, the amount of which has not been disclosed, is still subject to approval by local antitrust authorities.
"This acquisition reinforces Sika's position in the mortar market (mixing products for leveling, filling or other processes in construction), which has a rapid growth and provides important cross-selling opportunities, through a greater presence in the distribution channel," said the European multinational.
For this group, the attractiveness of Chema also responds to its range of brands, which includes products such as tile glues, paints, grouting mortars for tiles, among others.
"(Chema's) geographic presence at the national level will support our strategic focus on large cities," added Christoph Ganz, Regional Manager Americas at Sika.
In 2021, Sika completed the purchases of the Brazilian company Supermassa, and the Mexican Bexel Internacional, thus adding two mortar manufacturers.
For its part, Chema recorded sales of about S / 210 million in 2022 and operates four plants that will allow Sika to have national manufacturing and distribution coverage.
