Germany. With the investment of several million euros in the construction and opening of a new production plant at its site in Ludwigshafen, BASF announces that it has doubled the production capacity of its UV acrylic hotmelt brand, acResin, strengthening its position as a solution provider in the adhesives sector.
"In the adhesives sector, the global trend is moving towards sustainable, high-quality application solutions. The 100% acrylic UV curing hot melting acResin meets these requirements and we aim to continue to grow this specialist business," explains Jürgen Pfister, Vice President of Business Management Adhesives and Fibre Adhesive EMEA at BASF.
acResin is used to manufacture specialized pressure-sensitive adhesives, including labels for the food industry and various special adhesive tapes for the automotive and construction sectors.
In 2018, the company conducted an eco-efficiency analysis of adhesive labels and found that, compared to solvent-based adhesives, acresin-based adhesives are the least expensive and most sustainable solution. As a 100% UV-curable acrylic hot melt adhesive, it contains minimal amounts of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), low odor levels and good skin compatibility.
