International. The European Coatings Show set new records this 2019: around 30,500 trade visitors (2017: 30,198) from 124 countries (2017: 120) took advantage of the opportunity offered this year by the event to learn about innovations in the manufacture of paint, coating and sealing compounds from 1,156 exhibitors from 46 countries (2017: 40).
The event focused on ecology and functionality.
The European Coatings Show Conference once again brought together leading R&D experts and leading scientists from around the world. With the participation of some 800 delegates from 54 countries, its international attendance was even higher than on the previous occasion. Participants learned about the latest research results and trends in coating development in 144 presentations grouped into 24 sessions. The most popular presentation series included "Water Coatings"," "Dispersion Technology", "Microbial Protection" and "Science Today - Coatings Tomorrow". Therefore, ecological compatibility and functionality are issues that the industry continues to consider especially important this year, which was also confirmed by the interactive survey of participants during the Conference. The use of titanium dioxide, something that has been the subject of intense discussions, was a new item on the agenda.
The European Coatings Award for Best Technical Paper went to Dr. Christopher M. Miller et al., Senior Director of Global Research, Coating Resins at Arkema. In his presentation, he thematized the development of a deeper understanding of the effect of latex design parameters on final coatings.
The keynote address was given by Professor Markus Antonietti, director of the Max-Planck Institute for Colloids. He discussed a new procedure for obtaining monomers, polymers and solvents from biomass waste.
The exhibition area, which was expanded to eight halls this year, made the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre the central platform for coating experts from around the world to share ideas and experiences. In addition to the trade show, the European Coatings Show Conference overlay also proved to be a calling card with an even more international presence: around 800 participants from 54 countries listened to presentations from leading scientists and development experts.
Exhibitors and trade visitors travelled to Nuremberg from six continents. They had more space this year, with eight rooms in total. In six of them, including the new Hall 9, exhibitors exhibited raw materials used in paints, printing inks and adhesives, while two other halls were dedicated to laboratory and production technology, and also to test and measurement devices.
Even greater international contingent between exhibitors and visitors.
Most of the exhibitors came from Germany, followed by China, Italy, the Netherlands, the United States and India. The products and services of exhibitors based in the Czech Republic and China were exhibited in the pavilions of both countries. The proportion of international exhibitors and international trade visitors was even higher than last time. Visitors to this year's fair represented 124 countries, including Italy, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Turkey, which are in the top ten in visitor statistics, and also many other countries from the Markets of Asia, North America, South America, Africa and Australia.
