International. LumiLor is a worldwide patented electroluminescent paint. The product allows manufacturers to design with light in previously impossible ways. It produces a single-color light that is visible over long distances and shines through many types of atmospheric conditions such as fog, snow, and smoke.
Darkside Scientific, creators of LumiLor Light Emitting Coating, are working with European aircraft manufacturer Airbus to create electroluminescent exterior markings for aircraft. Airbus Innovation leaders say they are impressed with the technology behind LumiLor and see promising possibilities for the future.
Unlike many light sources, such as LEDs, LumiLor's brightness is distributed throughout the coating and looks the same from all viewing angles. Simply put, anything you paint with LumiLor can turn on and off as easily as a light bulb.
The skills needed to apply LumiLor are similar to the skills needed to apply other professional grade coatings with an HVLP (high volume/low pressure) system. LumiLor is a four-layer coating system and includes processes and specifications that are unique to its patents. It takes three to five hours to apply all layers of LumiLor under standard conditions. They are available in eight native colors, these are the colors you see when LumiLor is turned on.
LumiLor appears as a shade of gray, similar to an automotive primer, when turned off. The final layers (airbrushing, dyed transparent layers, colored top layers, hydrography, etc.) can be used to alter the appearance of LumiLor to create the desired effect.
Being the thinnest sprayable light in the world, LumiLor allows anything coated with it to light up. It can be applied to almost any 3D object and emits light when an electric current passes through it.
